Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series

First trailer drops for Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series

We were a little skeptical when we first heard about Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series – a marriage of this generation’s best video game story teller and this gaming era’s biggest time sink for gamers of all ages didn’t really seem like something that should’ve fitted together. Yet, after watching the very first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode unveiled at MineCon, I can safely say that I am very intrigued. Check out the trailer for yourself below: While this will be the first time in a long time that Telltale Games hasn’t used its signature animation in a video game, Minecraft: Story Mode still looks like it will use the same storytelling format of heavy cutscenes with player input where choice is needed. As to whether Minecraft: Story Mode fits into the Minecraft world as it is today, CEO of Telltale Games, Kevin Bruner says: “We’ve worked closely with the ...

Match made in comic book heaven: Marvel and Telltale Games to make video games together

If there’s a game studio who’s on a roll this past year, it would have to be Telltale Games. After inking deals with the hugely popular Game of Thrones and Minecraft franchises, it was announced by Marvel a few days ago that Marvel and Telltale Games will be making video games together based on Marvel intellectual property. Given Telltale Games’ proven ability to accurately convey emotional and brooding stories in previous games like The Walking Dead, this would go perfectly in hand with the darker stories of the Marvel Universe, and I’m honestly struggling to contain my excitement. Marvel Games creative director, Bill Roseman, did say, however, that the games developed under the partnership would feel “exquisite” and “sexy” – this is interesting as this isn’t generally the vibe that I get from Telltale Games’ current games, despite their storytelling prowess, so presumably some collaboration is going to go on between the two parties to make ...

Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series

Telltale Games is making Minecraft: Story Mode, because we needed more reasons to play Minecraft

Yesterday was chock full of games news, but one headline that caught my eye was the announcement that Telltale Games is making Minecraft: Story Mode in conjunction with Minecraft‘s creators, Mojang. Of course, if you haven’t heard of Telltale Games yet, they’re widely considered to be one of the premiere developers of story driven video games, so it’s at the very least interesting to hear that Telltale is picking up a project for a game that essentially has no story or lore (meta game doesn’t count as story). Telltale has made their name most recently by creating stories within the worlds of well-established universes – Back to the Future, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, just to name a few. Minecraft: Story Mode is said to explore the world of Minecraft but won’t directly involve the game’s existing “protagonist”, Steve, or really involve the world of Minecraft or its background. Furthermore, Minecraft: Story Mode ...

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

The Game of Thrones video game will launch starting on December 2nd says Telltale Games

When Telltale Games continued to promise that their latest game, the highly anticipated Game of Thrones video game, would definitely be released this year, we couldn’t help but wonder if the games studio was cutting it a little thin with just over a month left in the year. As it turns out, we had nothing to worry about as the studio today announced on its Twitter account that the game will launch starting on December 2nd and staggered depending on the platform. First cabs of the rank will be PC, Mac and PS4 on December 2nd, followed by Xbox One and Xbox 360 on December 3rd and iOS on December 4th. Perhaps unusually, the PS3 version will languish behind with a December 9th release date, and the Android version has only received a general “December” approximation. #GameOfThrones A @TelltaleGames Series Ep 1 #IronFromIce 12/2 PC/Mac; PS4 SCEA 12/3 Xbox One & 360; ...

A teaser trailer drops for Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

While Telltale Games gave us some juicy details about its upcoming adventure series, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series, last week, today they’ve given us a teaser trailer that gives us our first official look at what the game is actually going to look like. As expected, Telltale has adopted its tried and true animated graphical style, and the trailer appears to show quite a few of the TV show’s characters as well as referring to the Forrester’s whose House you will represent during the game. Check it out: The first episode of six is called Iron from Ice and will presumably set the stage for the House of Forrester who appear to be quite fond of the ironwood trees that they live amongst. It will be interesting to see if Telltale has recruited the actual actors from the TV show to voice their video game likeness or whether ...

Details drop about Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

Telltale Games is a studio that has by now become synonymous with fantastic storytelling. Its gut-wrenchingly emotional The Walking Dead series showed that it could not only adapt TV show worlds to video games, but could tell masterful stories at the same time. So it’s no surprise that one of the world’s favourite TV shows, Game of Thrones, is getting the Telltale Games treatment, and we get our first details about the game today. Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will be a six episode affair and will start with a episode titled “Iron from Ice“, focusing on the story of House Forrester who live at Ironrath, playing from five different perspectives of five different members of the House. The story will follow the events of The War of the Five Kings, and for those invested in the TV show, picks up its story somewhere at the end of Season ...

The Walking Dead: Season Two Episode 4: Amid the Ruins arrives July 22nd

The Walking Dead: Season Two has continued the first season’s extremely emotional story line, and its penultimate episode of Clementine’s journey is almost upon us. Episode 4: Amid the Ruins is due to be launched on PC/Mac Steam on July 22nd, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita on July 23rd and on iOS on July 24th; Telltale Games has suggested that more release dates are in the pipeline which opens up the possibility of an Android version sometime in the future. We join Episode 4: Amid the Ruins as the party starts to fall apart, as it always does. Issues that could be patched up before are forming into huge cracks, and naturally at the worst times. Telltale Games has released a trailer along with the release dates for Episode 4 to give a taste of exactly what’s to come for Clementine and the survivors (SPOILER ALERT: do not watch if ...
