Happy New Year: January’s Xbox Games with Gold have been announced

Not one to skip a beat, even with the Holiday Season around, Microsoft has announced January’s Xbox Games with Gold. For those who haven’t heard, Microsoft offers free games to Xbox Live Gold subscribers every month, with the last few months netting Xbox One owners one game every month, and Xbox 360 owners double that. We’re getting the same arrangement this month, with the Xbox One’s title being Access Games’ D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, and the Xbox 360 getting both MX vs ATV Alive and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. D4 will be available for the whole month for Xbox One owners, and follows the story of David Young as he tries to figure out the details of his wife’s murder through his use of (somewhat) disjointed time travel abilities. Xbox 360 owners have MX vs ATV to look forward to in the first half of the month ...

December’s Xbox Games with Gold have now been revealed

It’s the end of the month already and Microsoft knows just the thing to cheer us up: revealing December’s Xbox Games with Gold. In case you’ve never heard of Games with Gold, Microsoft has been running this initiative where Xbox Live Gold subscribers receive one or two free games a month to keep forever as long as they download within the month, or half-month. We’ll start off with the Xbox One’s offering. Starting December 1st (and ending December 31st), Xbox One Gold subscribers will be able to download and play Worms Battlegrounds for free. As the old adage says, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, and that applies wholeheartedly here with Battlegrounds adopting the age-old 2D, turn-based combat that saw the franchise rise to prominence in the first place. Battlegrounds will be the only game that Xbox One owners get through December, so make sure you get your money’s worth. ...

October’s Xbox Games with Gold are revealed, featuring Chariot, Battlefield Bad Company 2and Darksiders II

It’s almost the end of the month so you know what time it is – that’s right, time to announce next months’ Xbox Games with Gold as part of Microsoft’s ongoing promotion to release free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. First cab off the rank is the Xbox One’s offering, which in October will be Chariot. An ID@Xbox offering from Canadian developer, Frima, the game features deep cooperative aspects but can be enjoyed alone if none of your friends are online. The somewhat morbid premise of Chariot sees you take control of a Princess and her fiance as they navigate through the game’s 25 levels riding the late king’s coffin. Weird, perhaps, but it is free, and it looks intriguing to play with a buddy. Unfortunately, the Xbox One will again only be getting one new free game this month with Crimson Dragon going ...

September’s Xbox Games with Gold keeps the free gaming coming

The end of the month is quickly becoming one of my favourite times as Microsoft reveals what games it is going to be offering on its ongoing Xbox Games with Gold program. Last month we got gems like Dishonored and Strike Suit Zero, and it looks like we’re getting more of the same in September. For Xbox One owners, you’ll only be getting one new game in September; Crimson Dragon, one of last month’s games will be continuing its tenure into this month. The other game you can get for free will be Super Time Force, a nifty little indie game that is quite a lot more tricky than its appearance as a side-scrolling gun-fest might suggest. Super Time Force will be available for the full month of September. Xbox 360 owners have hit the jackpot again this month – not only will the get to download the pixellated, heist, indie ...

Microsoft Games with Gold for June 16th 2014 [UPDATED]

Time for the latest and greatest freebies from Microsoft in the Microsoft Games with Gold release for June 16th 2014.  don’t forget to check back on the 1st and 16th of every month if you have a Microsoft XBox Live Gold membership and download your free games.  The free game today appears to be having issues so good luck trying to get them for yourself.  Every time I try to purchase it, I get a nice little error page.  Let’s hope they fix it before you try and download it for yourself. The other disappointment is that there is only a single game available this round and its for the XBox 360.  Nothing has been released for the XBox One this time.  I’m guessing that’s due to the limited availability of content for the XBox One.  I’m pretty sure it’ll get better as time goes on. So, what have they got in store for ...

Microsoft Games with Gold. The FREE Games You Never Knew You Had.

How many of you have heard of Microsoft Games with Gold?  I hadn’t until recently and apparently they’ve been available for a long time.  Anyone who has a Microsoft XBox Live Gold Membership has perks that others don’t. You get discounts on games and accessories and previously were the only ones to have access to streaming content such as Netflix and Pandora, although that has recently changed. As the console wars heat up, so does the competition from each of the console manufacturers and one of those amazing benefits from these wars is FREE games from Microsoft for us.
