Google Project Fi Featured

Googles Project Fi Can be Awesome but it’s been a little Google-ized

Googles Project Fi – The Sign up Process I decided it was time to upgrade my phone.  The screen on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a crack across the top corner and I’m getting pretty tired of the slowdowns I keep experiencing from the Samsung TouchWiz interface.  I love Android but I want a pure Android experience so I’ve decided to choose the Google Nexus brand of phones.  They are pure Android and the latest batch are some of the most powerful Android devices you can buy. In the process of choosing a Google Nexus device, I also decided that I’m going to give Googles Project Fi Cell Service a chance.  Project Fi, for those who don’t already know, is Googles own cell phone service that works in a slightly different and much more simplistic manner to other cellphone providers. Project Fi uses T-Mobile and Sprint networks for its mobile networks access.  ...

Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series

First trailer drops for Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series

We were a little skeptical when we first heard about Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series – a marriage of this generation’s best video game story teller and this gaming era’s biggest time sink for gamers of all ages didn’t really seem like something that should’ve fitted together. Yet, after watching the very first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode unveiled at MineCon, I can safely say that I am very intrigued. Check out the trailer for yourself below: While this will be the first time in a long time that Telltale Games hasn’t used its signature animation in a video game, Minecraft: Story Mode still looks like it will use the same storytelling format of heavy cutscenes with player input where choice is needed. As to whether Minecraft: Story Mode fits into the Minecraft world as it is today, CEO of Telltale Games, Kevin Bruner says: “We’ve worked closely with the ...

Vine Kids

Vine creates dedicated Vine Kids app to keep it safer

Vine has gone and created a second Vine app, Vine Kids. The app came about from a conversation during a meeting where one of Carolyn Penner’s, Head of Communications and Marketing, colleagues was talking about how much his two year old loved vine, but he wished there was a more kid friendly variant. That sprung up the idea and Vine Kids was born during hack week at the company. Now there is a dedicated kid friendly variant of Vine. My initial thoughts of how this would turn into a trolls dream app were quickly squashed when I discovered the app contains handpicked animated cartoon character Vine’s and not a random collection of Vine’s from general people. That should put many parents minds at ease. They even made the app as simple as possible where you only can swipe left or right to see the next Vine and tap on it ...

Sid Meier’s Starships will be the next game to ruin your sleep patterns

Like one game of Civilization didn’t already take long enough. 2K has announced the next game in the line of great Sid Meier strategy games, Sid Meier’s Starships, which as you can probably imagine involves space. Interestingly, it’s not completely separated from Civilization games as it is set in the same universe of recently released Civilization: Beyond Earth. What else do we know about it? Well, here’s a neat trailer to whet your appetite: To help satiate your hunger a little more, 2K and Firaxis Games also released the following information about Sid Meier’s Starships today: Sid Meier’s Starships challenges players to build a planetary federation by exploring the galaxy, expanding its influence and domain, researching futuristic technologies and engaging in deep, turn-based tactical space combat with an armada of uniquely customizable starships. Each new campaign will feature its own distinctive galactic strategy map of worlds with dynamically generated tactical combat missions that will enhance the ...

Facebook testing Voice-to-Text function for Messenger app

Voice-to-Text isn’t a new technology. Many carrier voicemails and third-party voicemail services have been offering it for a number of years. Facebook is now apparently in the testing process of bring the same ability across to the Facebook Messenger app by automatically transcribing received voice notes to text readouts under the clip. David Marcus, Vice President of Messaging at Facebook, made the tiny news announcement via his Facebook page just a few days ago with the attached image. As many of you know, we already offer a feature that enables people to send voice clips to their friends without having to type out the text. Today we are starting to roll out a small test that helps people read the voice clips they receive instead of having to play them out loud. It certainly is a handy feature if you find yourself with voice clips and not currently in a situation ...

iPhone 6 gets boiled in Coca Cola

Why, oh why: iPhone 6 gets boiled in Coca Cola, because reasons

Destroying technology is a pretty depressing topic to discuss. You may remember that we got pretty riled up when the #BendGate saga started to go too far with people pointlessly destroying their Apple products (iPads included) just to prove that they did bend, and we may have caught wind of a similarly pointless destruction of an iPhone 6. The video in question shows what happens when a iPhone 6 gets boiled in Coca Cola, courtesy of Ukranian YouTuber, TechRax, who nonchalantly places a “brand new” iPhone 6 into a bubbling pan of Coke. Take a look at the video below if you can stomach it (excuse the horrible, horrible pun): Unsurprisingly, the iPhone 6 is completely destroyed in the process of essentially cooking it. Now, we’re not having a go at YouTubers like TechRax for doing these allegedly ‘extreme’ torture tests. In fact, some of them can have surprisingly enlightening, if ...

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

The Game of Thrones video game will launch starting on December 2nd says Telltale Games

When Telltale Games continued to promise that their latest game, the highly anticipated Game of Thrones video game, would definitely be released this year, we couldn’t help but wonder if the games studio was cutting it a little thin with just over a month left in the year. As it turns out, we had nothing to worry about as the studio today announced on its Twitter account that the game will launch starting on December 2nd and staggered depending on the platform. First cabs of the rank will be PC, Mac and PS4 on December 2nd, followed by Xbox One and Xbox 360 on December 3rd and iOS on December 4th. Perhaps unusually, the PS3 version will languish behind with a December 9th release date, and the Android version has only received a general “December” approximation. #GameOfThrones A @TelltaleGames Series Ep 1 #IronFromIce 12/2 PC/Mac; PS4 SCEA 12/3 Xbox One & 360; ...

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

A teaser trailer drops for Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

While Telltale Games gave us some juicy details about its upcoming adventure series, Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series, last week, today they’ve given us a teaser trailer that gives us our first official look at what the game is actually going to look like. As expected, Telltale has adopted its tried and true animated graphical style, and the trailer appears to show quite a few of the TV show’s characters as well as referring to the Forrester’s whose House you will represent during the game. Check it out: The first episode of six is called Iron from Ice and will presumably set the stage for the House of Forrester who appear to be quite fond of the ironwood trees that they live amongst. It will be interesting to see if Telltale has recruited the actual actors from the TV show to voice their video game likeness or whether ...

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

Details drop about Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

Telltale Games is a studio that has by now become synonymous with fantastic storytelling. Its gut-wrenchingly emotional The Walking Dead series showed that it could not only adapt TV show worlds to video games, but could tell masterful stories at the same time. So it’s no surprise that one of the world’s favourite TV shows, Game of Thrones, is getting the Telltale Games treatment, and we get our first details about the game today. Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will be a six episode affair and will start with a episode titled “Iron from Ice“, focusing on the story of House Forrester who live at Ironrath, playing from five different perspectives of five different members of the House. The story will follow the events of The War of the Five Kings, and for those invested in the TV show, picks up its story somewhere at the end of Season ...

#Bendgate

Please Stop: #Bendgate returns, this time with the iPad Air 2

Ok, this is getting excessive now. By now, I’m sure most everyone has heard about #Bendgate, the controversy which tailed the release of Apple‘s first phablet smartphone, the iPhone 6 Plus. As the story goes, the iPhone 6 Plus is relatively easy to bend in a manner which can be done even barehanded. By now, that saga has somewhat died down, however #Bendgate has apparently reared its head again with Apple’s latest tablet release, the iPad Air 2. As you can see, Marvin from Germany proves that the iPad Air 2, which measures a perilously thin 6.1mm thick, easily bends with a not entirely ridiculous amount of force exerted just with his hands. At this point, I’d like to make a serious statement here – this is getting entirely out of hand. It may have been interesting, some might even say amusing, to the see the situation that Apple and the iPhone ...
