Call of Duty Advanced Warfare multiplayer

Jetpacks and tsunamis: Call of Duty Advanced Warfare multiplayer revealed in new trailer

We were promised Call of Duty Advanced Warfare multiplayer footage, and Activision and Sledgehammer Games have delivered. Today, the multiplayer trailer for this year’s Call of Duty entry was released, and what an explosive and intense trailer it is. Check it out below: Jetpacks and tsunamis – that is all. But on a more serious note, it looks like developer Sledgehammer Games has really taken the Call of Duty multiplayer formula – which by all accounts was getting a little stale – and has injected it with some much needed innovation in the form of new futuristic weapons and a heavy emphasis on jetpack movements. Even the maps shown in the trailer are a breath of fresh air, particularly the map where a tsunami arrives and the fights can be taken into the water. There’s definitely a lot to get excited by in this latest Call of Duty, which for this ...

Assassin's Creed Rogue

Ubisoft announces Assassin’s Creed Rogue, a last-gen console romp that questions your ‘Creed’

If there’s one thing that’s for sure, playing an Assassin’s Creed game will often require the killing of Templars, the Assassin’s sworn enemy. But what if an Assassin goes rogue? That’s the premise of Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Ubisoft‘s latest game in the franchise that will explore the line where an Assassin crosses over to the Templars. Check out the announcement trailer below: The protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be Shay, who in the trailer has hunted down a fellow Assassin to the Arctic Circle to kill him. The game appears to be set the closest to the present than any of the previous Assassin’s Creed games, partly evidenced by Shay’s shotgun, and the fact that Shay hails from the streets of New York where you will be able to traverse in the game. For those who have been wondering whether the franchise would ever touch the subject of converting over to the ...

Bungie reveals some impressive statistics from the Destiny Beta

Last weekend, the Destiny Beta ended and so began what might subjectively be the longest month before the game’s actual release on September 9th. Destiny is anticipated to be one of the biggest releases of 2014, so it’s not surprising that when developer, Bungie, released some statistics from the Beta, spread over all 4 platforms, there were some genuinely impressive numbers in there. According to Bungie, 4,638,937 people took part in the 9 day Beta, who created 6.5 million in-game characters. When Bungie opened the Beta up to people who hadn’t preordered the game, 853,235 concurrent players were recorded as being online, 851,264 of which were given the exclusive honour of visiting the Moon. While the servers weren’t perfect during the Beta (I had two disconnects in the very short time that I played), it does look like Bungie might have what it takes to support the masses of Guardians that are ...

F1 2014

Formula 1 game franchise to do one last lap with the Xbox 360 and PS3 in F1 2014

Formula 1 is still a very niche sport around the world, but like the technology involved in sending those aerodynamic beauties around the track, the annual video game has been at the forefront of its genre, specifically racing simulations since its first iteration in 2010. Fast forward to 2014, and we were wondering what platforms Codemasters would be releasing its new game on, which Codemasters has conveniently answered in a blog post yesterday. Predictably named ‘F1 2014‘, this new game will only be coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in mid-October; the next-gen consoles will have to wait till 2015 for their game. Check out the announcement trailer below: The blog post goes on to elaborate on next year’s release, which we mentioned will be coming to Xbox One and PS4. Traditionally, the F1 games have come out in October, which is unfortunately at the tail end of the Formula ...

Destiny’s beta is now an open beta

For the last week, many gamers have been savouring their first opportunities to play Destiny, the highly anticipated game by Halo-creator, Bungie. The beta has so far only been available to gamers keen enough to pre-order the game, however that has all changed today. Bungie announced earlier today that the beta would become available to all; all you require is a PSN or Xbox live account and away you go (Note: this does only mean Xbox Live Gold members, however). In a post on their website, Bungie said: “Today, at 4:00 PM PDT, we’re opening the Destiny Beta to anyone who wants to create a character and walk in their boots. There are, of course, some requirements. Aside from all the standard requirements, you’ll need to be brave. Help us deliver the game you deserve. Before we shut this party down, we’ll welcome everyone who wants a preview of this brave ...

Battlefield Hardline is delayed

Visceral Games and DICE announces that Battlefield Hardline is delayed to 2015

Visceral Games and DICE have today announced that their latest game, Battlefield Hardline, will be delayed till 2015. In a blog post on the Battlefield site, DICE VP, Karl Magnus Troedsson, elaborated on the exact reasons that they have decided to delay Hardline till 2015, not least of all because of the feedback from the recent beta. We’ve been poring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you. This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we ...

Assassin's Creed Experience

The Assassin’s Creed Experience at San Diego Comic-Con looks awesome (and really dangerous)

I’m sure many of us have picked up an Assassin’s Creed game and thought: “Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to do parkour like an Assassin?” Well, if you’re heading to San Diego Comic-Con next week, you might just get the chance to. Ubisoft is hosting the Assassin’s Creed Experience as part of its promotion for Assassin’s Creed Unity, and allows you the opportunity to run a course specifically designed to let you perform moves that Assassins do in the video games. Check out the video brief delivered by Ubisoft’s newly hired Chief Parkour Officer: The Assassin’s Creed Experience certainly looks like fun, though I can almost see it going horribly wrong for some people. While they may have “designed the course so anyone can run it”, I doubt Ubisoft will be providing medical insurance for the over-zealous people who felt like doing a running leap of faith. Then again, that might ...

Assassin's Creed Unity

Ubisoft releases new ‘Revolution’ gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is possibly one of the most defining game franchises of our generation and the next chapter in the story, Assassin’s Creed Unity, set to be released soon. Ubisoft has just yesterday released a new gameplay trailer titled ‘Revolution’, which helps set the setting in which you will be playing; Paris in 1973, right in the midst of the French Revolution. Check out the trailer below: The trailer features the new hero in Unity, Arno, who presumably fights on the side of the revolutionaries. It might be a bit early to say (though it did win 50 award nominations at E3), but Assassin’s Creed Unity looks like it has really been fine tuned; one thing I noticed from the trailer was the more fluid camera following Arno as he ran, rather than the stoic camera in past games (I will mention that I haven’t played an Assassin’s Creed game since Revelations, ...
