Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series

First trailer drops for Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series

We were a little skeptical when we first heard about Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series – a marriage of this generation’s best video game story teller and this gaming era’s biggest time sink for gamers of all ages didn’t really seem like something that should’ve fitted together. Yet, after watching the very first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode unveiled at MineCon, I can safely say that I am very intrigued. Check out the trailer for yourself below: While this will be the first time in a long time that Telltale Games hasn’t used its signature animation in a video game, Minecraft: Story Mode still looks like it will use the same storytelling format of heavy cutscenes with player input where choice is needed. As to whether Minecraft: Story Mode fits into the Minecraft world as it is today, CEO of Telltale Games, Kevin Bruner says: “We’ve worked closely with the ...

backwards compatibility for the Xbox One

Microsoft announces backwards compatibility for the Xbox One at E3 2015

What a glorious, glorious day it was for current (and future) Xbox One owners. Microsoft‘s E3 2015 press conference happened earlier today and it dropped a huge bombshell: backwards compatibility for the Xbox One is going to be a reality. Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who announced the new functionality, said that it will be free to use as long as you own the Xbox 360 game yourself – those dusty libraries of Xbox 360 games aren’t going to go to waste after all. Depending on your game format, you’ll be able to download existing games in your library, or if you have discs, insert the discs and presumably install them that way. With 100 games to be supported when the features launches “this fall” and many more to be added to the library in the near future, this is surely a sure sign that Xbox One will be the more popular ...

Fallout 4 announcement

Fallout 4 announcement coming on June 3rd, launching to PC, current and old-gen consoles

I’ve been dying to hear the words “Fallout 4 announcement” for far too long now, but it appears the wait is almost over. On the Bethesda hosted Fallout website, a “Please Stand By” splash can be seen counting down towards zero – at the time of writing there is just over 3 hours left before what is presumably the official announcement of a new Fallout game, which is expected to be named Fallout 4. This theory has been bolstered after Reddit user ChakiDrH went through Bethesda’s website source code and dug out some interested tidbits, chief among which is that the website’s domain is for Fallout 4. Other useful details include pre-order links for the game and exist for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and also older gen consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s been 7 years since Fallout 3 and the Fallout franchise’s cultish following has been reaching a fever pitch over ...

spending 3 hours on Destiny everyday

Players are spending 3 hours on Destiny everyday, says Bungie

Bungie has come out with some interesting statistics at a panel held at GDC 2015, stating that there are currently 17 million players registered on its blockbuster game, Destiny, and that players are spending 3 hours on Destiny everyday, on average, a huge number when you factor in just casual players. Even Bungie is a little surprised by the average playtime statistic – John Hopson of Bungie says that Bungie had originally only expected players to play 39 minutes each session. And what are players doing during their 3 hours of gameplay everyday? Well, according to another slide shown at the panel, Destiny players are spending most of their time playing Strikes, closely followed by Story missions, and perhaps most interestingly, the Tower social space. Bungie also divulged an interesting nugget of information during their panel, which was that they knew about the infamous loot cave before Destiny was even released, expect ...

GTA V Online Heists

Rockstar finally announces that GTA V Online Heists will be available March 10 for consoles, later for PC

It’s like waiting for a whole new game, and for how long we’ve waited, it better hope it’s like one. Rockstar Games has finally announced that GTA V Online Heists are coming and given it a solid released date: March 10th, but only for consoles. Sorry PC gamers, along with today’s announcement about Heists, Rockstar also announced that the PC version of the game is going to be delayed again, this time till April 14th this time. On the plus side, you’ll have access to Heists as soon as the game launches, and Rockstar has given everyone who preordered the PC version an additional $200,000 in-game cash to use in GTA Online as a token of goodwill.  I know I can’t wait until Heists are available – I definitely found them to be the most interesting parts of the story missions, especially weighing up cost and benefits of the accomplices you ...

Battlefield Hardline Beta Preload

Battlefield Hardline Beta pre-load up and running, get it ready for tomorrows action

I wouldn’t say I have been obsessing over Battlefield Hardlines Beta launch that is scheduled to hit all platforms tomorrow, but I did log in and out of Origin a few times this morning to see if it was accessible yet. Yes, I even did a search to see if there was a set time it would be available. According to one forum on EA’s Answer HQ, it was set to become available at 10 a.m. PST. Being that it is after that time here on the west coast, I am happy to let you all know that it is indeed listed to start pre-loading. You will want to head to your Origin account and go to the “Free Games” tab and select ” Demos & Betas” It should appear as the first game in the list and let you start the long process of pre-loading the game to your ...

Like it, love it or hate it, but Battlefield Hardline is just around the corner with a release scheduled for March 17th. Battlefield Hardline open beta on the horizon for all platforms

Battlefield Hardline has been a hit and miss topic of discussion among fans and haters of the Battlefield franchise. Plenty called out EA and Dice for attempting to make a whole new title to raise profits when it should just be a DLC for Battlefield 4. While I can understand some of the arguments, they really are negated by the fact that the title isn’t a war game and has a totally different story mode that isn’t even being handled by either, but by Visceral games. All of that can easily go into a whole new article, now the important bit of information is that there is an open beta close at hand that will cover all gaming platforms that the title will release for when it officially comes out March 17th. I had a rather fun time on the first PC beta. Even though the modes and maps were ...

Xbook Duo

The Xbook Duo combines both an Xbox One and Xbox 360 in laptop format

Eddie Zarick is a pretty handy guy – his personal projects featured on his YouTube channel include – but are not limited to – the Playbook 4 (a portable PlayStation 4) and the Xbook One (a portable Xbox One). Both DIY modification jobs look very impressive, but Zarick has decided to take this to the next level with the Xbook Duo. Now, if you’re thinking this has something to do with the Xbox One, you’re absolutely correct, except that this time, instead of just having one console in the same portable box, Zarick has managed to get an Xbox 360 in there too. Check out the video of Zarick giving a tour of his handiwork: This is beyond amazing, and it’s an impressive looking customization to boot. I don’t know if the case gives the Xbox One quite enough ventilation as I know mine gets quite hot even with 75% of the panels ...

Xbox Games with Gold

Happy New Year: January’s Xbox Games with Gold have been announced

Not one to skip a beat, even with the Holiday Season around, Microsoft has announced January’s Xbox Games with Gold. For those who haven’t heard, Microsoft offers free games to Xbox Live Gold subscribers every month, with the last few months netting Xbox One owners one game every month, and Xbox 360 owners double that. We’re getting the same arrangement this month, with the Xbox One’s title being Access Games’ D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, and the Xbox 360 getting both MX vs ATV Alive and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. D4 will be available for the whole month for Xbox One owners, and follows the story of David Young as he tries to figure out the details of his wife’s murder through his use of (somewhat) disjointed time travel abilities. Xbox 360 owners have MX vs ATV to look forward to in the first half of the month ...
