total war: warhammer

Oh. My. Word: Total War: Warhammer gets its first cinematic trailer

The Total War franchise has made its name over the last few years by making breathtakingly vast battles between immense enemies look easy, but the games have always been seeded in the world’s history. That’s no longer true with The Creative Assembly‘s first take on an established fantasy world, and what a world it is. Of course, we’re talking about the world of Warhammer, and the game is called Total War: Warhammer, a beautiful marriage of the Total War series’ epic battles and Warhammer’s formidable lore. At least in theory. And my dreams. The cinematic trailer sets the scene for what will be the overarching story of Total War: Warhammer, though it’s probably a bit too early to say too much about it. Orcs, Dwarves, Vampires, and Humans look like they’ll all be playable races in the game and we’d hope there are more revealed in the near future. SEGA and The ...

Star Wars: Battlefront trailer and details

The Force is strong in this one: Star Wars: Battlefront trailer and details have finally been dropped

We’re a bit slow on this one, but we’re no less excited. The Star Wars: Battlefront trailer and details have finally dropped during the Star Wars Experience convention, outlining parts of the game and giving us our first look at what the game is going to look like. And hopefully we’re not letting our enthusiasm blind us, but it looks fantastic so far – check out the trailer below if you haven’t seen it yet: Like the previous Battlefront entries, this reboot of Battlefront will involve large scale battles, including up to 40 players, and see the use of all manner of vehicles and machinery in the Rebels-v-Empire battles, including space battles between TIE. Also, as in Battlefront 2, players will be able to play as heroes of either side, such as Darth Vader, to try and turn the tide of the battle. The planets revealed so far which will host ...

the technomancer

I need this game in my life: The Technomancer is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2016

If everyone is honest, there’s a distinct lack of new video game IP these days that isn’t coming from indie developers. Fewer still are truly immersive RPG games that implore you to explore every nook and cranny in the game to get the full story. After finding out about The Technomancer, however, I’m hoping the wait is now over. Developed by Spiders Games and published by Focus Home Interactive, The Technomancer is an ambitious RPG set in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world set on Mars and follows the plight of a Technomancer whose past and future are on a collision course. What really caught my eye about The Technomancer was the description given about the game talking about the skill trees and dynamic story and conversations: The Technomancer will offer players action-oriented combat gameplay along four different skill trees, focusing on 3 different fighting styles and the destructive electric-focused powers of the Technomancers. ...

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is officially announced for PC, PS4 and Xbox One

Yesterday, the existence of Deus Ex sequel game, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, was leaked, but as it turns out, Square Enix was ready to announce the game anyway. Today, the publisher officially announced the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One and dropped a sweet, cinematic trailer to help set the scene for the sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Check it out below: Am I the only one who hopes there is a Deus Ex movie one day? As expected, Mankind Divided takes place two years after the events of Human Revolution and takes a look at the world as the relationship between augmented humans and ‘normal’ humans degenerates into violence. Factions and terrorism are rife and our protagonist, Adam Jensen, finds himself amongst it, presumably where the player choices come into the game, where even the Illuminati looks to play a role in dictating the course of the story. ...

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is leaked, official announcement to follow on April 8th

Just when I was losing hope for a new Deus Ex title, a nice big ol’ leak hits the air waves. A new Square Enix game allegedly titled “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” has been outed today and continues after the last Deus Ex title, Human Revolution. Set in 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, what started out a testy violence between ‘normal’ humans and augmented humans has broken out into all-out conflict and the story re-centers on protagonist, Adam Jensen, who will presumably do something along the lines of save the day. Come see the future of Deus Ex, tomorrow at 09:00PT/12:00ET/18:00CEST on http://t.co/cyr5xIE3fm. #CantKillProgress pic.twitter.com/bJS5Gf2gUu — Deus Ex (@DeusEx) April 7, 2015 Not to be completely beaten by the leaked news, the Deus Ex Twitter feed has posted up that a likely game reveal will be happening tomorrow (or today) on April 8th at 9:00am PST, ...

Star Trek Online Leonard Nimoy

Star Trek Online places multiple in-game memorials for Leonard Nimoy

Last week, the world was saddened to hear about the passing of Leonard Nimoy, a man who in gaming and tech circles was held incredibly dear. None more dear than the community of the game Star Trek Online, a game based on the TV show and movies that Nimoy became so loved in as the character, Spock. Fittingly, the game’s creators have seen fit to put a number of memorials into the game in remembrance of Nimoy, one on Spock’s home planet of Vulcan, one on the planet of New Romulus, and a plaque that is going to serve as a memorial to all the cast of Star Trek who have passed away, including Majel Barret (Christine Chapel), James Doohan (Montgomery Scott), DeForest Kelley (Leonard McCoy), and also the series’ creator, Gene Roddenberry. A most fitting memorial. And for fans of the series who are wondering why New Romulus needed ...

GTA V Online Heists

Rockstar finally announces that GTA V Online Heists will be available March 10 for consoles, later for PC

It’s like waiting for a whole new game, and for how long we’ve waited, it better hope it’s like one. Rockstar Games has finally announced that GTA V Online Heists are coming and given it a solid released date: March 10th, but only for consoles. Sorry PC gamers, along with today’s announcement about Heists, Rockstar also announced that the PC version of the game is going to be delayed again, this time till April 14th this time. On the plus side, you’ll have access to Heists as soon as the game launches, and Rockstar has given everyone who preordered the PC version an additional $200,000 in-game cash to use in GTA Online as a token of goodwill.  I know I can’t wait until Heists are available – I definitely found them to be the most interesting parts of the story missions, especially weighing up cost and benefits of the accomplices you ...

Day One patch for Evolve

3GB Day One patch for Evolve will improve loading times

One of my biggest gripes from my short time playing pre-release Evolve was the absolutely ridiculous loading times – as a good friend of mine puts it, Evolve has a loading screen, for its loading screen, for its loading screen. Thankfully, Turtle Rock Studios has been listening and will be releasing a Day One patch for Evolve which mainly deals with the matter of loading screens and should hopefully deal with the excessive tedium. Apart from that, the 3GB patch apparently deals with some bugs from the Alpha and Beta, adds some balancing between Hunters and Monsters and also adds compatibility with the mobile version of Evolve. While I was slightly adamant about Evolve after the Alpha, 2K and Turtle Rock have made giant strides to make the game more polished and content-filled, and I can’t wait to see reviews of the game start to roll in after February 10th. Are ...

Sony Online Entertainment bought by Columbus Nova, to now be known as Daybreak Game Company

Looks like Sony made a quick buck by selling the Sony Online Entertainment division to investment management firm Columbus Nova. The announcement came a few hours ago by way of the SOE news and announcement board. Community Relations, Dexella, outlined that SOE will now become an independent game development studio with plans to now expand into Playstation, Xbox and mobile titles. SOE might not ring a bell as much as some of their titles do. They were responsible for the very popular EverQuest series, Planetside 2 and the more recent H1Z1. With a new financial backer in their pocket comes a new name as well. SOE will now migrate over to Daybreak Game Company. So when you see that name start to pop up all over the place you will know where its roots are from. For gamer’s, nothing will apparently be changing. All current titles from SOE will continue on their ...

Battlefield Hardline Beta Preload

Battlefield Hardline Beta pre-load up and running, get it ready for tomorrows action

I wouldn’t say I have been obsessing over Battlefield Hardlines Beta launch that is scheduled to hit all platforms tomorrow, but I did log in and out of Origin a few times this morning to see if it was accessible yet. Yes, I even did a search to see if there was a set time it would be available. According to one forum on EA’s Answer HQ, it was set to become available at 10 a.m. PST. Being that it is after that time here on the west coast, I am happy to let you all know that it is indeed listed to start pre-loading. You will want to head to your Origin account and go to the “Free Games” tab and select ” Demos & Betas” It should appear as the first game in the list and let you start the long process of pre-loading the game to your ...
