The Technomancer

New screenshots from The Technomancer explore the Red Planet

I’m already too excited about The Technomancer. In case you’re late to the party, The Technomancer is going to be a new sci-fi RPG, developed by Spiders and published by Focus Home Interactive. What is a Technomancer? Think “mage-warriors”, cybernetically augmented to take advantage of electrical-based powers. Some new screenshots from The Technomancer have been released recently which show concept art from an encounter on Mars. Check out the screenshots below: This is no doubt part of the main story where the Technomancer you assume the role of is completing his trial to become a full Technomancer. Entering into this “Old Dome” on Mars, you encounter looters and mutant creatures to see whether you are worthy to be a Technomancer. It sounds a melodramatic when I say it, but I’m still extremely excited to see where this goes – it’s not everyday that you see new game IP’s that bring fresh ideas ...

Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords gets an update

Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords gets an update after 10 years

Some games get an update after a year or two, and that’s usually already a stretch. That makes it all the more surprising that Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords gets an update today 10 years after its launch on PC. And it’s no small update either with high definition resolutions added to the list of video settings as well as Steam Workshop and console controller support. The full list of features is as follows: 37 achievements to be earned through gameplay Steam Cloud saves Native widescreen resolution support Resolution support up to 4K and 5K Support for controllers, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4, along with several others (check the system requirements for details) Steam Workshop support! Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3

Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3 is dropping in the next 24 hours

As you probably already know, I’ve been playing The Witcher 3. A lot. It’s definitely my favourite game of 2015 so far, and I’m predicting it might still be by the end of it (Fallout 4 verdict pending). That’s not to say that it hasn’t had its fair share of bugs – oh boy, are there bugs – but CD Projekt RED has been hard at work getting Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3 out the door. It seems your patience is about to pay off as CDPR community lead, Marcin Momot, announced that the new patch is going to be live within the next 24 hours. Patch 1.07 will be arriving on all platforms in the next 24h. Once it’s live everywhere, we will officially announce it. #TheWitcher — Marcin Momot (@Marcin360) July 17, 2015 Despite the small, incremental number change, Patch 1.07 actually changes a huge list of things ...

Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 expansions estimated to be as big as The Witcher 2

I haven’t posted in awhile and there’s a semi-decent, not-really-good-at-all reason: I’ve been playing The Witcher 3. As you’ve no doubt read, it’s probably one of the current favourites to get Best RPG honours, if not Game of the Year, thanks to its immersive, nuanced story and side quests and simply the size of the game. As was announced with the game itself, The Witcher 3 is actually due to get even bigger, with two planned expansions to be released by CD Projekt RED. Talking to Game Reactor about the length of The Witcher 3 expansions, CD Projekt’s Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said: “The first expansion will be around 10 hours and the second expansion will be around 20 hours… and I think it’s possible that they will be bigger. “It’s always like this (that when we plan some time or hours, it’s twice or something like this), but I’m not promising anything right ...

Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series

First trailer drops for Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series

We were a little skeptical when we first heard about Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series – a marriage of this generation’s best video game story teller and this gaming era’s biggest time sink for gamers of all ages didn’t really seem like something that should’ve fitted together. Yet, after watching the very first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode unveiled at MineCon, I can safely say that I am very intrigued. Check out the trailer for yourself below: While this will be the first time in a long time that Telltale Games hasn’t used its signature animation in a video game, Minecraft: Story Mode still looks like it will use the same storytelling format of heavy cutscenes with player input where choice is needed. As to whether Minecraft: Story Mode fits into the Minecraft world as it is today, CEO of Telltale Games, Kevin Bruner says: “We’ve worked closely with the ...

Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst isn’t going to force gun gameplay on you this time

The original Mirror’s Edge game was a masterpiece of parkour and immersive first-person action sequences. It would have been perfect, except that EA and DICE decided that just because the enemies had guns, it meant you should be able to wield them too. As you can probably see, given that Mirror’s Edge was a parkour-first game, the tacked on gun gameplay felt out of place, and in its next chapter, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst (announced at E3 2015 yesterday), EA has clarified that gun gameplay, at least for protagonist Faith, has been removed from the game. In an interview with Polygon today, senior producer Sara Jansson gave a few reasons for this: “In Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, you won’t be using any guns at all. We’ve completely removed that aspect of the game. You can’t even pick them up.” “Faith will fight, but she doesn’t kill. Now the fighting is more of an extension of ...

Fallout 4 announcement

Fallout 4 announcement coming on June 3rd, launching to PC, current and old-gen consoles

I’ve been dying to hear the words “Fallout 4 announcement” for far too long now, but it appears the wait is almost over. On the Bethesda hosted Fallout website, a “Please Stand By” splash can be seen counting down towards zero – at the time of writing there is just over 3 hours left before what is presumably the official announcement of a new Fallout game, which is expected to be named Fallout 4. This theory has been bolstered after Reddit user ChakiDrH went through Bethesda’s website source code and dug out some interested tidbits, chief among which is that the website’s domain is for Fallout 4. Other useful details include pre-order links for the game and exist for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and also older gen consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s been 7 years since Fallout 3 and the Fallout franchise’s cultish following has been reaching a fever pitch over ...

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege releases October 13th, 2015

The name Rainbow Six has somewhat faded into obscurity in the video game world, particularly given the booming popularity of competing franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield, leaving Ubisoft without an entry in one of the biggest video game genres. Thankfully, it looks like Ubisoft is really to breach the first-person shooter market again with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege for which it released an extremely ominous and technical official trailer – check it out: Unlike Battlefield or Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege looks like it’s going to be relying much more on gadgets and team tactics to achieve objectives, which is a welcome change to the run-and-gun tactics that have become the norm in more recent shooters. Perhaps most interesting is that Ubisoft is committing to have Rainbow Six Siege released this October – October 13th to be exact, which means it will be going head-to-head with the ...

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate debut trailer

The Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate debut trailer sets the scene in 1868 London

Ubisoft has finally given us what we’ve all been asking for: an assassin in a top hat. Just me? Anyway, Ubisoft has today unveiled its latest chapter in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, which has apparently done away with the oft-confusing numbering system again. The Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate debut trailer shows the protagonist, Jacob Frye, in London 1868 fighting for the working class, a Robin Hood of sorts. Check out the trailer below: Just from watching the trailer, Syndicate seems a little different than its predecessors, if not only for the inclusion of gadgets like the grappling hook. Only time will tell if its different enough to separate itself as a great game by itself or just another Assassin’s Creed game with a different skin. One thing that will be different is that you will spend part of the game playing as a woman, which is a nice change for ...

"All Who Follow You" trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight

“All Who Follow You” trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight has dropped today

In case you haven’t heard, Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment really know how to make a Batman game. The third and last game in the Batman: Arkham series helmed by Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham Knight, is due for release in June and their latest trailer has dropped today to get those saliva ducts working. The “All Who Follow You” trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight shows plenty of destruction as the Arkham Knight and his army, with the help of many of Arkham’s favourite villains, wreck havoc in Gotham, and all that remains to stop him are Batman and his allies. Check out the trailer below: Ominous, to say the least. As you can see, the trailer shows a whole lot of FreeFlow Combat which has become a staple in these Batman games, but this time Batman’s not alone – Arkham Knight will also allow for “Dual Play” which will allow you ...
