Microsoft Games With Gold Logo

Microsoft Games with Gold. The FREE Games You Never Knew You Had.

How many of you have heard of Microsoft Games with Gold?  I hadn’t until recently and apparently they’ve been available for a long time.  Anyone who has a Microsoft XBox Live Gold Membership has perks that others don’t. You get discounts on games and accessories and previously were the only ones to have access to streaming content such as Netflix and Pandora, although that has recently changed. As the console wars heat up, so does the competition from each of the console manufacturers and one of those amazing benefits from these wars is FREE games from Microsoft for us. On the 1st and the 16th of every month Microsoft has been giving away free games to anyone with an XBox Live Gold Membership.  Yes you’re reading that correct, the games are FREE.  They are available for the XBox 360, and have been for some time, but now Microsoft has extended the Microsoft Games ...

HTC Dot View Case Weather Temp

HTC Dot View Case Review. Its Not For Everyone.

When HTC release the HTC One M8 earlier this year, they released the HTC Dot View Case at the same time.  A case like none we’d seen before.  Not only did it protect your phone, but it has a dot matrix style hole system on the front allowing the phone screen to show information through the case.  I can only describe it as a retro looking design more akin to old 8-bit video game. It’s definitely unique among cases. The HTC One Dot View case is a flip cover case so if this is not what you’re looking for, you can probably stop reading now.  The Dot View case is nice looking, feels tough and adds a pretty cool novelty factor to your phone.  It’s a great idea, but they also make you pay $50 for it. The Dot View case feels nice and fits perfectly.  The back of the case ...

Microsoft Release XBox One June Update. It’s a Good One!

The Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11 Is Flexible In All The Right Ways

I have had the honor of being a Technology Author for about 3 years now and it has been a blast. I have reviewed app, products, and even done a few editorials. After these 3 years I have learned a few things and have made my share of mistakes along the way. From what I have learned I have decided to start a little segment here on AndroidSPIN called “Writer’s Block”. This is where I will talk about tools that are available to writers from all walks of life and put them through the paces of what I think are a standard in this field. I do not claim to know it all and this is my opinion of a product that I have used personally for a month. This will not be a standard review as I will not be going into great detail about specifications I will use ...

Route 66 Panoramic Car Kit Review

Route 66 Navigation and Panoramic Car Kit.   Founded in 1992, Route 66 started out by creating an alternative Navigation application for your Android devices competing with the likes of Google Maps and Waze.  Not only did they develop a navigation application, but they also offer custom car mounts for a good selection of devices called the Panoramic Car Kit. What makes them any different to existing navigation application available on the play store?  The first thing you’ll notice is they have a function called “Follow Me” which presents an augmented reality view using your phones camera.  They then overlay a car on the display, which can be changed, and all you do is follow it.  It actually works very well and even slows down and gets closer as you approach traffic and turns in the road.  The follow car even has real working lights so you can see it ...

Logitech UE Boombox Bluetooth Speaker Review

Logitech UE Boombox Bluetooth Speaker Review Logitech UE Boombox is the big brother to the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox we previously reviewed.  We were completely impressed with the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox and have been looking forward to putting its big brother through the same testing.   Sculpted aluminum and a minimalist design make the Logitech UE Boombox look like a piece of art.  The lack of bells and whistles and the nicely integrated controls are a testament to how a portable speaker should be made. The Logitech UE Boombox retails for $250 so we have high expectations for a portable speaker system like this.  It’s nicely designed, costs a lot of money, so does it live up to its price tag.  Let’s find out.     Sliding off the top cover of the two part packaging reveals the speaker system and AC charging adapter plus a tin fold out instruction ...

finally-bring-iTunes-to-Android

iTunes may be coming to Android

For the longest time, Android users have had to deal with the absence of an official iTunes app from the Google Play Store; sure there are substitute apps, but that’s a far cry from an official app that evolves with Apple‘s aspirations and focuses, much like other music providers like Spotify and Pandora have done over the last few months. That void may be filled soon, however, as Billboard reports that Apple may finally bring iTunes to Android. The change in heart is primarily due to a decrease in music download sales, down 11% according to Nielsen SoundScan. Conversely, while download sales are down, revenues from streaming sites like Spotify and Pandora have risen 39% in the past year, signalling to Apple that they should probably consider something along the lines of a music streaming service with an “All-Access” subscription model, possibly using the existing iTunes Radio platform as a starting ...
