DroidBox T8 Mini Android TV Box Review

The DroidBOX T8 Mini is an Android powered TV Set top box running Android 5.1.1.  The device is one of many options available from the British company trying to compete with the saturation of Chinese Android TV boxes release over the last few years. DroidBOX have added plenty of nice features to make it stand out from the rest of the crowd and we’ll get into those in more detail in the full review below. One nice feature DroidBOX have included is the ability to handle some of the Android TV apps (the “lean back” TV versions) and even provide some of these via their own App Store.  To make things easier to navigate, DroidBOX developed their own custom launcher designed to work with a simple cursor based remote control.  Finally, the DroidBOX T8 Mini can dual-boot into an Openelec environment which is a custom version of Kodi 16.1 designed to ...

Google Project Fi Featured

Googles Project Fi Can be Awesome but it’s been a little Google-ized

Googles Project Fi – The Sign up Process I decided it was time to upgrade my phone.  The screen on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a crack across the top corner and I’m getting pretty tired of the slowdowns I keep experiencing from the Samsung TouchWiz interface.  I love Android but I want a pure Android experience so I’ve decided to choose the Google Nexus brand of phones.  They are pure Android and the latest batch are some of the most powerful Android devices you can buy. In the process of choosing a Google Nexus device, I also decided that I’m going to give Googles Project Fi Cell Service a chance.  Project Fi, for those who don’t already know, is Googles own cell phone service that works in a slightly different and much more simplistic manner to other cellphone providers. Project Fi uses T-Mobile and Sprint networks for its mobile networks access.  ...

Walkera QR X350 PRO Motor Failure

Drone Crash: Walkera QR X350 Pro Motor Failure at about 400ft

I’m trying to test out the drone and see what it can do so I can write a full review for you guys but it doesn’t help if the motor fails on my Walkera QR X350 Pro at about 400 feet and drops to the ground. I just wanted to share this slight hiccup we just had today.  We’ve sent an email to Walkera to try and work out what could have possibly caused this failure but that still doesn’t help when we have a snapped landing gear and Walkera G-2D Gimbal camera mount. Here the video for your amusement.  Skip to the end if you just want to see the failure and the drone drop from the skies.

The Beginners List of Drone / Quadcopter Manufacturers

While researching Quadcopter for our creative marketing agency, I’ve been compiling a list of Quadcopter manufacturers.  This is not yet a concise list, but it does provide a great start for anyone looking to purchase Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced Quadcopter / Drone platforms.  We will try to add to this list as new manufacturers are found. Here’s the list so far (In alphabetical order) : 3D Robotics (3DR) 3D Robotics are a professional drone manufacturer creating more than simply a hobby flying machine.  They produce autonomous drones with GPS waypoint planning and much much more. 3D Robotics Homepage: http://3drobotics.com Blade Blade is owned by Horizon Hobby, LLC and manufactures the Blade range of Quadcopters.  They offer some enhanced features such as SAFE to make flying their craft easier and safer and various software systems to smooth out the flight of their Quadcopters.  From helicopters to multi-prop drones, Blade has many options ...

X PlusOne Title

X PlusOne Ariel Drone is Vertical Hovering and X-Wing Horizontal Speed King that goes 60 mph

The world is going drone crazy and every man and his dog is coming out with the next best Quadcopter. With companies such as Google working on their own projects and Amazon talking about using drones as a delivery mechanism, It’s understandable why. There’s a new guy on the block called xCraft who have come up with a pretty cool looking Quadcopter that also acts a high speed forwarding flying X-Wing type vehicle.  Think X-Wings in Starwars. The X PlusOne as it’s called, is now on Kickstarter and they are hoping to raise $50,000 to bring the X PlusOne to market. The X PlusOne is a revolutionary hybrid drone that combines the ability for both stabilized hover and remarkably fast forward flight that could be used to perform high speed flyovers for some fairly dramatic video footage. At its core the X PlusOne is a revolutionary hybrid.  It combines multi-rotor ...

Choosing The Best Quadcopter Drone for Beginners or Kids

If you’re anything like me you’ll be doing a lot of research this holiday season finding the best value and quality products for those family gifts.  This season, one of my kids has asked Santa for a Quadcopter.  I’ve never flown a Quadcopter but I have played around with some of the cheap remoter controlled helicopters available.  One of the big issues with gifts like these is weighing up the pros and cons.  Do you buy a cheap Quadcopter because you know it’s probably going to get crashed and damaged or do you get something that will last longer and has plenty of spare parts available for repairs. If you’d tried anything remote controlled that flies, you’ll know that they are not the easiest toys to control, especially the cheaper ones.  Paying extra usually means the flyers have better controls and self-stabilization sensors, which also means they are easier to ...

Cambridge Audio Minx Air 100 Wireless Speaker with Internet Radio Review

With the release of the Cambridge Audio Minx Air 100 wireless speaker, bringing an all-in-one wireless speaker system to the general public with an almost portable format that still requires a power outlet.  The Cambridge  Audio Minx Go we previously reviewed was a completely portable speaker system with a rechargeable battery that was much smaller and easily mobile. Cambridge Audio Minx Air 100 adds a plethora of connectivity options too with support for Airplay, Bluetooth and a built in internet radio player. It’s great to see a company showing support for so many different connection options instead of focusing on a single type of device.  With support as a standalone radio player and connected player for computers, Android and iOS devices, your choices are plenty. There’s a fair amount of competition in this area, especially in the Bluetooth section so we’ll see how it fares in operation.     The ...

iBolt xProDock Connect Universal Phone Mounting System Review

The iBolt xProDock Connect is the latest universal docking station with NFC support from iBolt to securely position your phone in an easy to view position while driving. The differentiator the iBolt xProDock Connect has over its competition is the application they have developed to make your experience safer and easier to use. The overall design of the iBolt xProDock mounting system is well thought out and offers a lot of features.  The bottom two arms holding your phone are adjustable in every direction and slightly hooked to ensure your phone is never going to fall out.  Even with the largest of cases on your phone this dock is still going to adjust to accommodate the size.  I’m still using my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and it fit easily into the dock.  Even with my largest case, I had no issues at all.   The iBolt xProDock Holds any Phone ...
