The 4v1 multiplayer title that stole multiple awards at the tail end of last year, Evolve, is gearing up for launch on February 10th with some final betas to help get gamer’s excited, pre-purchasing and testing. Today 2K games has launched an open beta for Xbox One owners who have a Xbox Live Gold account. There is no special sign-up page or random number drawing, you just pop in and download the beta and get to cracking. The beta officially went live at 9 a.m. PST, so you may want to get the download started if you want to play later tonight.
The Open Beta will bring much more to the table then past betas. You will have access to two monsters (Goliath and Kraken, eight hunters and 12 playable maps. This rings true for a special closed technical test that PC gamers will have access to tomorrow, and PS4 gamers will have on the 17th, but we sadly miss out on a few of the Xbox One perks. If you get in on the madness on your Xbox One then you can expect a little extra bonus on Saturday the 17th as 2K Games will be in “Evacuation” as a playable option for the very first time. This mode is “Evolve’s dynamic campaign that combines the full array of maps and modes in a unique experience that is different every time you play.” One final bonus to the Open Beta is that any Hunter or Monster characters you unlock during the Beta will carry over to the full game for you.
The Xbox One Open Beta starts immediately and will run from today, January 15th, through January 19th.
On the PC side of things, there is a closed technical thet that starts up tomorrow. All gamers who were invited to the Big Alpha should already have the updated Steam pre-load done. If not, open up your Steam account and get it going. 2K Games isn’t taking on requests to join this one, but they do mention that if you own Left 4 Dead or BioShock: Infinite and they are in your steam account then you can participate too.
