Confirmed: GTA V will have first person perspective included in the Xbox One, PS4 versions

It almost seemed like a fantastical rumour at first, but today it was confirmed by Rockstar Games that GTA V will have first person perspective included in the PS4 and Xbox One versions releasing on November 18th. This will be a huge departure for the franchise which last changed player perspective moving from the top-down GTA 2 to the third-person GTA III which has been the staple ever since. Whether or not this is going to be something that sticks around in future games is yet to be seen, but it probably gives players on last-gen consoles another reason to pick it up again to play on Xbox One and PS4.

GTA V will have first person perspective
In fact, Rockstar Games animation director, Rob Nelson, says that “We could’ve put it in the [last-gen version] but we were too busy making the game”. Fair enough, I guess. Check out the new gameplay trailer below which shows a snippet of what is possible in this new first-person mode:

Rockstar also confirmed that the PC version, which is releasing later on January 27th, will carry a 4K resolution. Good luck finding a computer that will be able to run it smoothly though…
