Called it: Dragon Ball Xenoverse will let you customize your very own Dragon Ball Z character

In June this year, a series of screenshots from Bandai Namco‘s latest Dragon Ball game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, were released into the wild and they seemed to focus on a character not featured in any of the Dragon Ball lore. With Bandai Namco saying that Xenoverse was going to “rewrite DRAGON BALL history as we know it”, much of the speculation suggested a new character was about to be introduced into the anime universe. My opinion was slightly different as it seemed the unknown character bore hallmarks from several different characters in the Dragon Ball universe, suggesting that Xenoverse was going to introduce instead customizable characters. That theory has now been confirmed at the Tokyo Game Show after Masahiro Kashino of developer Dimps Corporation spoke about the game.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse
The premise for Dragon Ball Xenoverse is that the history of Dragon Ball has been altered – in Goku and Piccolo’s battle with Raditz, Piccolo’s special beam cannon only hits Goku. Your customized character will be summoned by Shenron to travel through time and correct history. Kashino says you will be able to interact with series characters like Goku and Vegeta as well as being able to customize your character’s race, gender, head, weight and costumes. Yes, you heard right, gender. This means, for the first time, players and fans of the series will get to see female Super Saiyans duking it out on the battlefield. Pretty neat stuff. I know I’m excited – are you?

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is going to be released for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
