The August Update for Xbox One is now available, brings 3D Blu-Ray support, remote buying and improved Activity Feed

We were promised an August update for Xbox One, and Microsoft has now delivered. Microsoft has been hard at work this month and brings a handful of features that are likely to make everyone’s life a little bit easier and the update should be rolling out now. On the list of improvements include 3D Blu-Ray support, meaning you will finally be able to play those 3D movies, as well as a revamped Activity Feed and the ability to remotely download and purchase games all from SmartGlass or online and have the games ready to go when you get home. Need some more elaboration? Xbox’s Major Nelson walks you through all the new features in the video below:

The update to the Activity feed is a particularly nice one as it was quite congested before and now actually has some features which will be very useful for those of you who are particularly social. The remote download and purchasing is also a good update as it brings the Xbox One more in line with the PS4 which was already able to do this. Of course, many of us will be looking forward to the next update, expected to be the biggest one yet, which some owners are already previewing in anticipation of its release.

For now though, if you want this update, and it isn’t appearing automatically, you should be able to enter your System menu and manually select “Update Console” to start the process; the download is around ~330MB. Let us know what you think of the update.
