While everyone gushed about Journey and its various accolades, one of the other most beautiful games of 2012 was a little known indie game called The Unfinished Swan. Developed by studio Giant Sparrow, the game was ‘incubated’ with Sony’s help and eventually saw a release in October, 2012 on the PlayStation 3. It looks like even more people will be able to experience the game’s beauty in the future as it looks like The Unfinished Swan is going to see a release on PS4 and PS Vita if a listing on the Korea Rating Board is to be believed.
The premise of The Unfinished Swan is that a swan has escaped a painting and it is your job to find it, navigating landscapes that take shape once you add some paint to it. While that sounds rather mundane, there is definite beauty to it, in a way that needs to be experienced rather than told about.
