Tekken 7 announced at Evo 2014 ahead of schedule due to leak

Many of us will fondly remember one or more button mashing fighting game classics in their formative years. Tekken was that for me; nothing makes me more nostalgic than thinking about making a panda pass gas on your opponent to knock them out. The latest installment in the long running series, Tekken 7, was announced yesterday by Tekken producer, Katsuhiro Harada, at the fighting tournament Evo 2014. The announcement was actually not supposed to happen as it did, however, as the existence of Tekken 7 leaked out prematurely, forcing Harada’s hand to release this teaser trailer announcing the game:

There’s not much in the trailer beyond a handful of familiar names like Kazumi, Heihachi, and Kazuya, and the knowledge that the game is being built upon the new Unreal Engine 4, though there is promise of more information when the San Diego Comic-Con rolls into town. Perhaps most curiously, Harada mentioned that apart from not expecting to be announcing Tekken 7, he had in fact intended to show the Evo 2014 attendees a different game. Curiouser and curiouser…

Tekken 7 is expected to release on Xbox 360 and PS3, though no release date has been specified yet. What do you think about Tekken 7’s announcement?
