IndieGoGo: Android makes the leap to Hyper Intelligent Router with Soap Touch Screen Router

There’s a new product on IndieGoGo that looks like it wants to take on the Router and Home Automation world in one go. It’s called the Soap Touch Screen Intelligent Router.

Alpha and Omega of Home Automation, Cheetah Fast, Lock Tight Security, Parental Controls that actually work, and it is really really good looking

As you probably know by now, I’m a technology geek. I love anything to do with Technology, Home Theater and I dabble a little in Home Automation as well. I have my home lighting controlled with a HomeSeer HomeTroller Zee Home Automation Controller and few strategically placed sensors to detect motion, temperature and more.  Home automation controllers let you control wired and wireless devices around your home.  You can write scripts to make things turn on and off based on almost anything from motion to light levels to manual switches.  I can control my lights from my Android phone or the Web and its simply an awesome piece of technology to play with.

What the Soap Touch Screen Intelligent Router aims to do is replace your home router and home automation controllers with a single, fast and powerful device running Android.  Sounds cool huh!

If the hype is anything to go by, it could turn out to be an amazing device that anyone in their right mind would love to install.

Is it a good idea to put everything in one box? That’s a good question. As long as they do it right and all the functionality it provides are top notch, then I don’t see why not. You can replace your router and home automation controllers with this single device.

They are already far surpassed their $80,000 goal on Kickstarter and the latest campaign on Indiegogo is already at 177% funding.  Pretty amazing as its only been active on IndieGoGo for a couple of weeks.

If you want to find out more, and even go and pledge some dollars yourself, you can find them on the original Kickstarter campaign, which is now closed, and the new campaign on Indiegogo.

Soap Inc. Launches Indiegogo Campaign That Showcases Next Generation Smart Hub—First Touchscreen Router for Home Automation and Security

Wireless router allows users to take back control of Internet in the home

Colorado Springs, CO.—June 10, 2014—Soap Inc., a pioneer developer of intelligent home-based technology, today announced the launch of its Indiegogo campaign for the company’s premiere product—Soap, an intelligent router that allows users to control their network and all electronic devices in the home.

Born out of an idea to provide a complete parental control solution, Soap is the first router that can do more than just routing—it simplifies home automation. Parents can keep their children safe online because Soap allows them to set time limits for their kids, filter content they can view and when. Soap protects homes from network threats and can “trap” hackers who find their way into a network through a “weak spot.” Unlike other routers, Soap is based on the Android operating system, allowing for limitless possibilities as it works with all home automation products on the market that control lights, alarms, cameras and much more—all available through the Google Play Store. Other features include:

  • Compatibility with all connected devices
  • Powered with an ARM quad-core processor
  • Latest 802.11AC WI-FI Speeds
  • Zigbee, Z-Wave, Insteon, Bluetooth 4.0, RFID/NFC built in
  • Easy parental controls
  • Virus and malware protection
  • Touch screen display

Soap also includes an exclusive Soap Automation app that further simplifies the user’s ability to manage their home electronically.

Soap Inc. recently completed a very successful Kickstarter campaign, raising more than $142,000 of its $80,000 goal—averaging $10,000-$15,000 per day. The company is currently focused on manufacturing, fulfillment and setting up distribution with its current Indiegogo campaign.

“We were thrilled with our first crowd-funding campaign and we feel it shows that there is a real need for the Soap router,” said Brandon Jones, CEO and co-founder of Soap Inc. “All the new technology options and apps on the market are great but not if users are overwhelmed. We set out to provide a solution that provides ease-of-use for the customer and we accomplished it.”

Contributors to the campaign can choose from a wide range of package options starting with a single Soap router powered by a Freescale solo processor for $230. Other packages include Soap routers with dual and quad processors. Contributors can also choose packages with more than one Soap router and can opt for a Soap router with a larger display screen. The Indiegogo campaign commences June 10th and will last for 60 days.

About Simon Walker

I was an IT consultant for 20 years and ran my own web design and development company for an additional 3 years. I have been involved with technology from birth. OK, that maybe an exaggeration, but it sure is a long time. I'm also an avid Home Theater geek and self appointed installer for friends and relatives. My first serious modding of Smart-Phones started with my T-Mobile WING and now Android devices. I'm also a bit of a photographer, although Android has kind of taken over my life and photography has taken a back seat.
